The Requirement
A multinational company operating in EMEA asked N&C to implement an advanced network access control (NAC) system to improve the security of access to the company’s network.
The project was situated in a context characterised by awidespread geographical distribution of locations and the need to protect both theinternal infrastructure and access by external devices.
The main challenge was to restrict access to the LAN and WiFi to authorised users only, while ensuring a secure and straightforward experience for visitors.
The Solution
N&C designed and implemented a centralised, resilient infrastructure for access control and Guest WiFi management, based on Cisco technologies aligned with corporate security standards.
Project undertaken:
- Implementation of the NAC (network access control) system for access control across over 100 EMEA locations.
- Cisco identity services engine (ISE) technology for user authentication and dynamic network segmentation.
- Wired and wireless access control, with endpoint profiling and granular policies.
- Implementation of the Guest WiFi infrastructure, with:
– secure authentication for visitors;
– isolation of guest traffic from the internal network. - Redundancy for two data centres, to guarantee high availability and service continuity.
The Result
The project enabled the customer to strengthen the security of the corporate network, simplify access management and improve the connection experience for users and guests.
The main benefits obtained:
- Increased protection of the IT infrastructure, through centralised policies and authorised access.
- Complete monitoring and visibility of endpoints, with the possibility of proactive intervention.
- Secure, separate WiFi experience for visitors, with easy and traceable access.
- Strategic value for network governance on a multinational scale and for compliance with security requirements.
